Introducing Abel
This Spring, we are excited to welcome Abel to Afura's lifestyle collection. If you're looking for a new signature scent but want to avoid the chemicals used in most luxury fragrances, Abel stands out with it's commitment to 100% natural ingredients. Crafted with innovative biotechnology and created by expert perfumers, each fragrance takes you on its own unique journey, and we can't wait for you to explore our team's selection in-store.
The New Standard in Modern Fragrance
Abel was founded in New Zealand by former winemaker Frances Schoemack and master perfumer Isaac Sinclair, with the vision of creating a perfume solely with natural ingredients, and without the use of harsh petrochemicals. This is considered a radical approach, as the majority of mainstream perfume brands lack transparency and rely on chemicals such as phthalates, parabens, sulphates, and synthetic dyes.
Afura's Selection
Our team has selected six of Abel's perfumes, along with the complete collection of room sprays, for you to explore. We love the variety of unisex scents and how they evolve on your skin over time, revealing the delicate blend of ingredients.
Whether you're drawn to the fresh citrus notes of 'Laundry Day,' the gentle warmth of 'Nurture,' or the muskier, woodier tones of 'Cyan Nori,' there's a fragrance to suit every preference.
100% Natural
This means that the ingredients are exclusively derived from natural sources; plants, fruits, flowers, herbs, spices and botanicals. There are no synthetic or artificial additives.
Biotechnology
Abel uses biotech ingredients, which are fragrance notes that are created in a laboratory using living organisms such as plant sugars, fungi and yeasts through a fermentation process. In addition to this the brand also uses an upcycling method of extracting scent molecules from the wastewater that results from food production.
By embracing these new developments in biotechnology, the results are longer lasting, consistent fragrances that rely less on the extraction of natural resources.
Master Perfumery
Innovation aside, Abel also meets the highest quality standards of master perfumery. The brand collaborates with Master Perfumer Isaac Sinclair, who combines his knowledge of natural ingredients with the science of perfumery.
Eau de Parfum vs. Room Spray - What's the Difference?
Abel's perfumes differ from the room sprays as the perfume is intended to evolve on the skin, while the room spray's have a more linear profile so that fragrance is consistent when sprayed into the air. The selection of room sprays 'Scene 01' 'Scene 02' and 'Scene 03' are made with 80% biotechnology ingredients and are designed to last longer in a home environment.
Developed by Dr. Fanny Grau, the room sprays are created to support emotional wellbeing. We recommend 'Scene 02' which was inspired by the Dutch countryside. Think wildflowers, figs and cedarwood, reminiscent of a cosy countryside home.
