About Tekla
Tekla Fabrics is a Scandinavian homeware brand founded by Charlie Hedin, who set out to create the perfect bedding he couldn’t find. After years in fashion with Acne Studios and Eytys, Charlie moved to Copenhagen and noticed a need for sustainable, well-designed home textiles. Two years of material sourcing led to the launch of Tekla, a brand focused on minimalist, functional design. Drawing inspiration from artists like John Pawson and Agnes Martin, Tekla's style is calm and sophisticated, avoiding bold prints. Known for collaborations with Jacquemus and Stussy, Tekla remains committed to creating durable, high-quality textiles that bring simplicity and comfort to everyday spaces.
Afura's selection
What we love about Tekla, besides great quality, is their colour pallette. Tekla's collections are always colourful without feeling loud. Their timeless pieces can blend into any interior and are made to keep and enjoy for a lifetime. See below what categories we have selected for the store and how to care for the products.
Bedding
Tekla's bedding, made from high-quality organic cotton, will make you want to get into bed fast. Mix and match pillow shams with a duvet cover in any colourway you like or go for a classic set in a single colour or print. Available at Afura: percale single or double duvet covers and pillow shams.
How to care for your bedding: Wash weekly in cold or lukewarm water with a gentle, eco-friendly detergent that doesn’t contain bleach or fabric softeners (which can degrade the fabric quality). Use a low spin cycle to extend fabric life and save energy. Air drying is ideal to preserve fabric fibers and colors, though low-heat tumble drying is an alternative. Wash light and dark bedding separately to avoid any color transfer.
Towelling
Tekla's Terry towels are crafted from extra-long cotton yarns in a mid to heavy weight weave and extra-combed technique, giving a perfect balance of softness and absorbency while ensuring long-lasting durability. Available at Afura: Terry towels in bath, guest, and hand towel sizes, and two bath mats.
How to care for your towelling: Make sure to dry your towelling between use. Wash once per week with eco-friendly detergent that doesn’t contain bleach or fabric softeners, in low temperatures and a low spin cycle, and separate light and dark colors; spot clean stains as soon as possible. After wash, line dry the towelling. If a loop snags, cut it instead of pulling it.
Sleepwear
Tekla's sleepwear is designed for moments of comfort throughout the day and night. The fabric is tightly woven for durability and a smooth, even finish, then lightly stonewashed for a soft hand feel. The extra-long yarns used prevent pilling and guarantee a deep, pure color even after years of use. Available at Afura: Cotton poplin pyjamas, featuring shirts, shorts and pants.
How to care for your sleepwear: Wash once per week using low temperatures and a low spin cycle, air your sleepwear in between use. Be sure to wash light and dark colors separately, and turn garments inside out before washing; use an eco-friendly detergent that doesn't contain bleach or fabric softeners. After wash, line dry your sleepwear where possible for the best result.
Our Tekla selection will be available online and in-store from December 15.
